“Heather Walker MSN'18 Memorial Scholarship”
Heather Walker MSN ’18 was a Certified Nurse Anesthetist and graduate of Otterbein University. She received lifesaving heart surgery at a young age that inspired her to become a nurse and give back to suffering families with sick children. Her nursing career included working in both pediatric cardiothoracic and adult oncology intensive care units. Heather truly embraced life with a passion and was up for any adventure. She was authentic, honest, tenacious, driven, and generous. When she passed in July 2020 due to complications from her childhood heart surgery, her family was overwhelmed with a massive outpouring of love and respect from her classmates and co-workers. Her memory will live on with future Otterbein students who follow her path to improve and care for human life.
In 2021, donors honoring Heather Walker, including family, friends, classmates, and instructors, established the Heather Walker MSN ’18 Memorial Scholarship at Otterbein University. This scholarship is awarded annually to student(s) who are in Otterbein’s Nurse Anesthesia graduate program.
